NFL SportsPicks.com Thursday Night Football -Seattle Seahawks vs. Arizona Cardinals

The current Line for Thursday Night Football – Seattle Seahawks vs. Arizona Cardinals.

Seattle Seahawks
Arizona Cardinals

The Seattle Seahawks are still looking to get better, despite their 5-1 record that has them atop the NFC. Things haven’t been easy in recent weeks, having close encounters with Tennessee and Houston, and losing their only game of the season to Indianapolis. But on Thursday night the Seahawks will look to improve to 6-1 against divisional foe Arizona.

The Seahawks have been great in terms of rushing the ball and not allowing the other team to throw on them. With 157 rushing yards per game and only 188 passing yards allowed, they rank second in the league in each of these categories. Unfortunately, their 215 passing yards ranks 24th, while they allow the 11th most rushing yards at 101. Fans in Seattle may argue that the only statistic that truly matters is the number in the win column, and for the most part they are right. However, if the Seahawks look to make a run at the Super Bowl, they’ll need to be sound in every area on the field. In his second year, Russell Wilson is playing well and Marshawn Lynch has been a major factor for this team. Although he’ll have to be read for Thursday, considering Arizona has the 5th best rushing defense in the league. The main force for Seattle on Thursday may be their own defense. With an Arizona offense that is as lackluster as it comes in the NFL, Seattle will have plenty of opportunities to flex their prowess on the defensive end of the ball

As for that Arizona offense, we really don’t know what to expect. Arizona is 3-3, so we can’t give them too hard of a time. One of those wins was even against a tough Detroit squad. But Carson Palmer doesn’t necessarily look to be having the type of season that will resurrect his career. His main targets are Larry Fitzgerald and Michael Floyd, who both do well when they get the ball thrown their way. But Rashard Mendenhall isn’t quite carrying the load enough to open up things for the passing game. Mendenhall will have to have a good game on Thursday, unless Arizona is looking forward to a night full of rushes hurried passes on Palmer.

This game is in Arizona, which could be a factor for the home team. However, we don’t really see this being a game that Arizona will walk away with. Seattle is still figuring things out, but they still appear to just be too good of a squad. We expect Seattle to win this one on Thursday, while looking to make an impression in front of the nation on Thursday Night Football.
