Oregon VS Stanford: Betting Line, Game Time Info, and Analysis

This weekends showdown between the Oregon Ducks and Stanford Cardinal hopes to be one of the best games the college football season has had this year. We are used to having major matchups in the SEC between teams like LSU, Alabama and Florida. But both Oregon and Stanford come into Saturday’s game with an entire seasons worth of pressure on the line, as the winner has a great shot of making the National Championship game, while the loser will likely drop in the polls and also in the Pac-12.

Oregon is the team that people across the country love because of their multi-colored uniforms and fast paced offense. However the rest of the NCAA coaches and BCS polls don’t take that into account, hence why the Ducks have been trading places with Florida State in many polls over the last few weeks. A win over No. 5 Stanford would put a huge bonus mark on the Ducks resume, and likely put them back into the number two spot.

As for the Cardinals, they could use this win to show people that they belong to be in the same conversation as the Ducks. For many years now, even with Andrew Luck, the Cardinal haven’t gotten the same respect as other Pac-12 teams like Oregon and USC. A win this weekend would change all of that.

The trash talking has already started between the two teams, as Oregon running back De’Anthony Thomas expects the Ducks to “at least put up 40” against Stanford. Not only does this game have huge implications on this years game, but the memory is still fresh in many Duck players of Stanford knocking off Oregon last year. These players don’t want the misfortunate loss to happen twice.

The other factor of this whole deal is the fact that there are still four other undefeated teams in the country, including Ohio State, Florida State, Baylor and, of course, Alabama.  A one loss Stanford may look impressive to voters if they beat Oregon, but they will have a hard time arguing why they deserve a spot over some of the other teams on this list. However, even with a win, Oregon may face the same issue.

The nation will certainly be watching on Saturday, as both of these teams try and prove why they belong ahead of the other in the polls and a shot at the National Championship.
