Thursday Night NFL Week 5 Preview, Browns vs Bills Odds and Free Winning Pick

A game between the Bills and Browns may not have aroused any interest a few weeks ago, but after the last two weeks, it could actually be an intriguing game to watch. And, well, considering it’s the only NFL game on Thursday night, your options are pretty limited if you need your football fix. Here is a look into the matchup between Buffalo and Cleveland.

The main theme of this game is going to be nothing less than pure confusion. There is really no way to tell how this game could read when the final buzzer sounds in Cleveland. The Bills lost opening weekend in a heartbreaker to New England. They then followed it up with a close win of their own against Carolina, a team that isn’t as bad as their record may represent. Then after a loss to the Jets in week three, some people may have thought that the Bills wouldn’t stand a chance in Baltimore, especially with how well the Ravens had been playing in previous weeks. But, surprisingly enough, the Ravens completely flopped in the game and Joe Flacco threw 5 interceptions. This allowed the Bills to capitalize on the errors and they eventually walked away with a 23-20 win.

The Browns have been just as confusing this year. After a 0-2 start against the Dolphins and Ravens, the Browns traded away Trent Richardson and lost quarterback Brandon Weeden to a thumb injury. Insert Brian Hoyer and Willis McGahee and the Browns have gone 2-0 in the last two weeks with wins against Minnesota and Cincinnati. Although the Vikings were 0-2 at the time of their game, not many people would’ve expected the Browns to upset the Bengals with a final score of 17-6. Nonetheless, the Browns did just that and now are atop the AFC North at 2-2. That’s right, I’ll repeat it, atop the AFC North.

This Thursday we’ll take a look at how rookies EJ Manuel and Hoyer do for their respective teams. Hoyer was hardly a known name in any NFL locker rooms just a few weeks ago (heck, he probably wasn’t even known in Cleveland). EJ Manuel, on the other hand, is a more reputable name, coming out of Florida State as a round 1 pick. But if Hoyer can keep it up like he has in the last few games, he may come out victorious on Thursday night.

Is it even imaginable that the Browns could win 3 games in a row after trading away their number-3 overall pick from last season? We certainly don’t know what to expect on Thursday, but we know we’ll be watching to see what happens.

The Browns will host the Bills at 8:25 p.m. ET on Thursday Night Football. The game will air on NFL Network.
